Can You Feel the Pressure?

That may well be true in the last year with Covid-19. What about your Columbus, Ohio area home’s gas lines? If you have pressure tested your home or business, it will give you peace of mind that the gas coming into the facility is at the right level. It probably requires the temporary installation of a gas pressure gauge.

Why is gas pressure important? Methane gas is a byproduct of decomposing organic matter…yuck!  When it comes to natural gas you will find that it is predominately methane.  Natural gas is colorless, tasteless, and odorless. Utility companies will actually add a distinctive odor to identify natural gas leaks before it is too late!

Leaking gas lines are not to be taken with a grain of salt. You need to call a qualified licensed gas line inspector in Columbus to troubleshoot the problem. The answer is always Staats Plumbing. Check out the many plumbing related services that Staats Plumbing provides in the Columbus area by googling staatsplumbing.com. Always call (740) 625-5284.

How Often Did You Use Your Garbage Disposal During the Holidays?

It seems like that hard-working appliance gets more use in November and December than, perhaps other times of the year. Even as resilient as they are, they can jam up when objects bind the impeller blades inside the appliance. The drain fittings can loosen and cause leaking beneath the sink. It’s just part of the aging process of your Columbus home’s garbage disposal.

Here are some of the most common ways it can quickly go from efficient to clogged –

1.  It does not pull a sufficient amount of water down the drain.

2.  Eggshells and coffee grounds…two big culprits.

3.  Potato peels…they form a starchy paste when they are ground up.

4.  Banana peels…think of potatoes, but with stringy fibers.

Whatever the reason for a clogged garbage disposal you are always just a phone call away from relief! Staats Plumbing is Columbus Ohio’s answer to unclogging or replacing a cranky garbage disposal in your home. It is just one of many services that Brent and his crew offer. For a full array of services go to staatsplumbing.com. The number to call is (740) 625-5284.

How Did Columbus Become the State Capital?

It started in 1803 when Ohio’s first state capital was Chillicothe (believe it or not!). In 1810 the capital city of the Buckeye State became Zanesville. Finally, in 1816 Columbus officially became the capital of our fair state. Not Cincinnati, not Cleveland, but Columbus…which was founded on Valentine’s Day 1812.

Today, our city is a teaming metropolis of nearly 900,000 residents. It is the most populous city in the State of Ohio and the 14th most populous in the nation. Except for Phoenix and Austin, it is the most populous of all the state capital cities in the US. We are rightfully proud to be residents of Columbus Ohio!

Here at Staats Plumbing we take our responsibility very seriously. We serve the plumbing and backflow testing needs of this large metropolitan area. When you need emergency or routine plumbing maintenance in the year to come, we hope you will think of Brent and his team at Staats Plumbing. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Staats family to yours.
