A New Castle in the New Year.

Have you been planning for 2018?  Is one of your major goals to have a beautiful new custom home built for you in the Columbus area?  Wouldn’t that be a highlight of the upcoming year?  Once you have made the decision and hired the right contractor you have to be sure that you bring in the best plumber for the job.

There are things that only some plumbers know.  Things like hooking up gas lines, installing fixtures throughout the new construction, then there is the installation of your garbage disposal, and your water heater.  That’s a lot to consider and you have a life to live.  Hire someone who is an expert in all of these areas.

In Columbus Ohio that man is Brent Staats.  Brent is the president of Staats Plumbing, a full-service plumber serving our area.  Go ahead, see for yourself by visiting www.staatsplumbing.com on the web.  Then give him a call to stop by and give you a quote on all of the initial plumbing work in your new home.  That’s (740) 625-5284.

What is Backflow?

I suppose this word could have some “tongue in cheek” meanings.  For our purposes, Backflow is a term in plumbing for an unwanted flow of water in the reverse direction.  The problem is that it can be a serious health risk for the contamination of drinking water supplies with foul water.  That should get your attention!

Backflow occurs for one of two reasons.  It will be either back pressure or back siphonage.
Back pressure is the result of a higher pressure in the system than in its supply.  Back siphonage is defined as the result of supply pressure being lowered below that of the system. This may occur when a supply is interrupted or drained down.

Whatever the reason, backflow needs to be immediately addressed.  It will turn your home’s good water into bad…not fit for consumption.  When this occurs, residents of the Columbus Ohio area call backflow repair expert, Brent Staats.  Brent and his team at Staats Plumbing will correct the problem ASAP.  Call them today at (740) 625-5284.

Kaboom!

Sorry about that, I was just installing my own indoor gas line.  Please, make sure that you call a professional when you need an indoor gas line installed.  The results could be devastating!  Even if you do it right the first time are you certain that there won’t be gas leaks down the road?  Take a look at some of the steps before you decide if it is a DIY job.

1.  Identify the main gas supply and where you are setting the appliance.
2.  Find the right Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST).
3.  Locate the flexible line between point A and point B.
4.  Turn on the valve and see if you did it right.

I don’t know about you, but I want someone who has done this dozens of times to mess around with the gas line in my home.  That someone is Brent Staats and his team at Staats Plumbing.  They are your Columbus Ohio experts at installing gas appliances in your castle.  This is NOT a DIY task.  Call Brent today at (740) 625-5284.

Failing Sump Pump…Rising Water.

It’s a scenario where one and one always equals two.  If your sump pump fails, count on eventually being knee deep in water.  The trick is to catch it early, early, early!  A smart home-owner will have a professional come to the house to troubleshoot the problem BEFORE it rears its ugly head.

The suggestion here is to install a back-up sump pump to take over the minute the main unit fails.  Oh, you say you don’t want to invest in a separate unit?  Just try and replacing the memories that your flooded basement has destroyed!  What about the main sump pump?  It should be replaced every five years as well.

All of this is done by your Columbus Ohio sump pump installation and replacement professional.  Get to know Brent Staats.  Brent and his team at Staats Plumbing will come to your home and assess your sump pump situation before “the great flood”.  Your possessions are too precious to risk.  Call Brent today at (740) 625-5284.

Tanks…but No Tanks.

It sounds like bad grammar, doesn’t it?  When that inevitable day comes and you are face to face with a leaky water heater you have a choice.  Do you go with a tank or a tankless unit?  No question about it, tankless water heaters will probably last longer, but the initial cost can be a great deal higher.

Endless hot water, additional storage space and lower energy bills are just a few reasons homeowners are switching to tankless water heaters.  Those perks, however, may just not be enough for some people to offset the extra purchase cost and installation expense.  Oh my…the yin and the yang of it all!

One thing is certain…when that time comes in your Columbus area home you know where to turn.  Call Brent Staats at Staats Plumbing.  You see, you cannot do any better than Columbus Ohio’s water heater repair and installation professionals.  Invite one of the Staats team to come out for an estimate by calling (740) 625-5284.

Backflow Testing…a Tutorial.

Here is a simple explanation…A backflow test is a procedure that tests the reliability of a backflow regulator, which is designed to keep water flowing in one single direction in a plumbing system.  That should be about as clear as the water that is flowing…right?  The point is, you don’t need to know how to do it, just whom to do it!

Seriously though, a faulty regulator can cause a potentially dangerous situation.  If fresh, drinkable water reverses direction it can become contaminated.  Suddenly you are back in the dark ages.  Backflow regulators are required in any building with an irrigation system, fire suppression system or large boiler.

Now the who comes into play.  Brent Staats and his team at Staats Plumbing are Columbus Ohio’s backflow testing professionals.  He will provide you with the date of testing AND even remind you when the one-year expiration date is coming up so you won’t let it lapse!  Enough said.  Call Staats Plumbing today at (740) 625-5284.
