What is Backflow?

I suppose this word could have some “tongue in cheek” meanings.  For our purposes, Backflow is a term in plumbing for an unwanted flow of water in the reverse direction.  The problem is that it can be a serious health risk for the contamination of drinking water supplies with foul water.  That should get your attention!

Backflow occurs for one of two reasons.  It will be either back pressure or back siphonage.
Back pressure is the result of a higher pressure in the system than in its supply.  Back siphonage is defined as the result of supply pressure being lowered below that of the system. This may occur when a supply is interrupted or drained down.

Whatever the reason, backflow needs to be immediately addressed.  It will turn your home’s good water into bad…not fit for consumption.  When this occurs, residents of the Columbus Ohio area call backflow repair expert, Brent Staats.  Brent and his team at Staats Plumbing will correct the problem ASAP.  Call them today at (740) 625-5284.
