Faucets Inside and Outside.

This can be a plumbing nightmare.  As the temperatures in the Columbus area moderate the pipes thaw and leaks can cause BIG problems!  Here is a fact of nature… once it warms up and the pipes thaw out, that’s when you’ll see a small drip.  Then, it becomes drip, drip, drip in very short order.

One of the biggest culprits is outdoor hose bibs. Water lines that supply outdoor spigots should be closed and hoses emptied of water to prevent ice from making its way into inner water lines. Failure to do that can result in a leaky or a burst pipe.  It may be hindsight now, but that could be what caused your nightmare.

How do you fix it?  Well, fortunately, that answer is easy around here.  You call Staats Plumbing.  They are the Columbus area plumbing professionals at fixing faucet leaks inside and outside of your home as well as showers and sinks.  You can’t turn back the clock, but you can get the pipes up and running again by calling them at (740) 625-5284.

What Constitutes a Backflow Test.

First of all, how often do you need to test your backflow device.  It is always recommended to be done every year.  Have you been faithful about that?  Many of us are not!  How long should it take?  When it is done by a true professional the job should entail less than a half hour for each device.  Set up will take a bit longer.

What if I fail the test…will I be without water for a period of time?  Unless all else fails, the short answer is NO.  In the majority of cases, we can take the backflow device apart and clean some of the internal parts, re-test and get the device to pass.  This is the important part of the entire equation.

At Staats Plumbing we take great pride in our ability to make all of the necessary repairs so that your device will get a passing grade.  That is why we are known as one of the true backflow repair experts in the Columbus area.  Your system needs to be checked annually.  Have it done right the first time by calling Staats Plumbing at (740) 625-5284.

My Sink is NOT an Indoor Bird Feeder.

It may seem that way sometimes when every time that you look there is water in the bowl.  Some may use common sense and call a plumber since the problem may be deep rooted.  For you DIY’ers out there we want to be helpful in helping you to troubleshoot the situation before you pick up a phone.

Here are a couple of methods to try-

1.  Fill the sink with enough hot water to cover the rubber part of a plunger.
2.  Give the plunger five or so healthy pumps.
3.  Perhaps pour one cup of baking soda with a cup of white vinegar into the drain.
4.  After 5 minutes pour warm water down the drain and see what happens.

So, if you have not over-exerted yourself with that plunger or passed out from the smell of vinegar, why not do the next logical thing?  Call Columbus Ohio master plumber Brent Staats of Staats Plumbing.  See, that was probably the answer in the first place!  Brent Staats has just celebrated 20 years in the plumbing business.  Call (740) 625-5284.
