Drain Cleaning…Why Call a Plumber?

Cleaning out a drain may very well sound like a DIY job, but there are reasons to trust a professional to keep your drains running smoothly.  Unfortunately, many homeowners make the mistake of trying to handle chronic clogs themselves and end up doing more harm than good for their plumbing system.

Here are some reasons to call a plumber first –

1.  Chemical cleaners that you poor down the drain can be damaging.
2.  Plumbers can keep drains from clogging in the first place.
3.  A professional will (when necessary) make a video inspection.
4.  Their tools are state-of-the-art.

So, before your drains slow down to a crawl, slow down yourself and make the right decision.  If you live in the Columbus, Ohio area pick up the phone and call Staats Plumbing for professional drain cleaning done every time.  Brent and his crew are ready to keep your home’s drains flowing.  Just call them today at (740) 625-5284.

New Year…New Backflow Testing Needed.

Just a reminder…A backflow device is also known as an RPZ valve.  The letters stand for Reduced Pressure Zone.  This device is installed onto your plumbing system to protect your drinking water and the city water supply from contaminants.  Without it, contaminants can enter an irrigation system from fertilizer or pesticides that are sprayed onto lawns.

If you have a water leak in your Columbus area home, be it a house water service break, city water main break, hydrant flushing, or hydrant use due to a fire, the water pressure in the house or city water mains can drop lower than the water pressure in the systems. When this happens, it can cause water from the systems to back-up into the drinking water supply.

It simply MUST be inspected every year to make sure it is in working condition…that’s the law!  To make sure your home is in compliance, call on Staats Plumbing for a thorough inspection of your Columbus, Ohio RPZ valve.  Brent, or one of his team will be at your home in no time.  Just call (740) 625-5284.

Stand By…Electricity is Coming Back.

A standby generator can energize a Columbus, Ohio area house for days after a blackout.  Electrical power outages are nearly impossible to avoid and they are increasing in both frequency and duration.  Nearly 60 percent of all blackouts are caused by violent storms, but 34 percent are caused simply by equipment failure.

Here are just some of the steps it takes to install a generator in your home –

1.  Install an electrical sub-panel with a transfer switch.
2.  Redirect critical circuits from the main panel to the sub-panel.
3.  Prepare a level concrete base for the generator.
4.  Carefully set the generator on the base.
5.  Run a new natural gas line and tracing wire from the generator to gas meter.

Do you really want to know more, because there ARE more steps?  I think by now what you want to know is whom to call to have a new back-up generator installed in your Columbus, Ohio home.  The answer is the same person that you call when you have a plumbing problem!  That is Brent of Staats Plumbing.  Just keep this phone number handy (740) 625-5284.

Kitchens…The Center of activity.

A kitchen is a very busy place in the average Columbus area household.  Hooking up a kitchen requires a pro.  It takes planning as well as plumbing expertise.  The garbage disposal, the dishwasher and the refrigerator (any and all appliances) all need to be properly positioned and then hooked up by a plumbing professional.

Take the seemingly simple task of hooking up a refrigerator –

1.  The water supply needs to be shut off.
2.  Copper tubing is then threaded through a hole that must be drilled.
3.  Attach one end of that copper tubing to the refrigerator’s water pipe.
4.  Then, hook up the water valve to the T-fitting.

Are your eyes starting to glaze over?  To properly hook up any and all appliances within a kitchen you call the kitchen appliance installation pros at Staats Plumbing serving Columbus Ohio and the surrounding area.  They know their way around a kitchen almost as well as mom!  Just call (740) 625-5284.
