How to Detect and Repair a Slab Leak.

What exactly is a slab leak?  A slab leak is a break in a pipe that runs beneath the concrete down in the foundation of your home. So, when the pipe breaks, water seeps into the ground and then into your home’s foundation.  Slab leaks can occur in either water or sewer lines.  Unfortunately, they can result in costly damage!

Early detection is vitally important.  To catch this problem at the onset, homeowners with concrete foundations must know what warning signs are indicative of this type of leak such as running water…where is the sound coming from?  A high water bill…that will get your attention!  Mysterious warm or wet spots on your floor.

Cash, Check, or Credit Card

You have dealt with hundreds if not thousands of businesses over the years.  When you hear “we only take cash” run for the hills in most cases, especially if the person telling you that has just fixed your plumbing.  A good, reliable plumber is about as important as a great auto mechanic, or even a reliable doctor.

So often, we go for price rather than quality.  You have done it in the grocery store, maybe with your medications, or at a restaurant.  One place where that may be a huge mistake is with plumbing!  Is the work guaranteed?  Will you be able to easily get that plumber to return to your home if there is a problem?

I am Brent Staats, the owner of Staats Plumbing.  Yes, we cheerfully accept cash, check, Visa, or Master Card.  We do that to make payment as flexible as possible.  We won’t be going anywhere.  My family and my workers are proud residents of the Columbus Ohio area.  By the way, our Blue Jackets may need a goalie if you have any ideas!  Call us at (740) 625-5284.

Replacing a Toilet.

Now there is a fun thing to think about this summer.  The truth is, with the kids home the toilet has probably been used more than usual these last two months.  While toilets are very durable fixtures, sooner or later you'll likely want to replace one or more of them in your home.

When you do, here are some of the tools needed to remove the old commode.

1.  An adjustable wrench
2.  Perhaps a hacksaw
3.  One or more large sponges
4.  Obviously, a bucket
5.  A putty knife

There are more really, and don’t forget, unless you are an Olympian weight lifter you won’t be able to lift and move it out of the way by yourself.  Back surgery is much more expensive than calling Brent.  That’s Brent Staats of Staats Plumbing serving the Columbus Ohio area.  He has replaced more toilets than he would care to remember.  Call him at (740) 625-5284.
